AARP?!

I checked my mail today, and to my surprise, I am now a senior citizen.

I received an official "laminated" AARP card and membership ID. 

{what the heck?!}

Now, I knew my life was moving pretty fast here lately, but oh gee - I didn't realize it passed by me THIS fast! haha

Even if I did become a member (which dear lord, I would never...it's probably a scam) but hypothetically, if I did, there would be plenty of perks...

• I could get movie discounts (because they don't do student discount anymore...stupid, I know!)
• Senior citizens get free pie at village inn! whoooo, who doesn't like FREE pie?!
• Shopping discounts! On certain days the old folks get super savings on their clothes! (can you say, jealous!)
• Fast food joints and even dine-in restaurants offer special savings to those over the age of 55! (heck 15% off your meal or free drinks can really add up ; )

...the list continues! This gets me thinking that just maybe...living the "good-OLD-life" won't be half bad after all <3

Speaking of old(er) people, I have a quick story.

Yesterday my family got together for no apparent reason, but just for the fact that it was a nice day and we decided to have a Sunday grill out.

After dinner, we pulled out the good old game known as "Taboo" - the purpose of this game is to get your teammates to guess the word on the top of the card without using the basic words that most people think of to describe it. 

For example if the word is [pizza] you can't say sounds like, rhymes with, or the words: slice, cheese, food, junk, eat, etc... it actually is quite difficult.

You see... the problem when we play "team games" is that my grandmother is 91 years old and she tends to (for lack of better words) suck at these things. Granted, she is old and processing time is quite different and much more difficult, but we always dread if grandma gets put on your team.

*sorry grandma*

Funny thing is  this: she ended up killing it & rockin the show! She even showed up my mother and got THREE words completed before the timer ran up! (My mom only got ONE. ha, it was great)

-This might have been a "you had to be there type story, but it really was funny" - 

She is so independent and hates asking for help. 

Quite the stubborn one she is. 

I know I will be just the same when I get older, I can foresee my future already.

(man, I feel bad for my future children already!)

My apologies.

I have been an awful blogger these past few weeks.
Excuses are useless, everyone has them.

I plan to catch up with everyone's blogs tomorrow - hope everyone is doing well :)

My life in first grade was rather chaotic for the first official "full week". On Friday, one little girl puked three times (all over the table, on the other children's homework, and the supplies...in the hallway, and up the stairs). Next, the girl across from her instantly reacted and spilled her bright red juice (this was during snack time) all over AND later in the day we had three breakdowns...needless to say, the kids were exhausted from a LONG week and needed the weekend, badly.

(...and so did Miss Erin)

BUT...

I wanted to make a note and recommend that every one should see "The Help"

It is a truly inspiring movie that really documents life's history, while still encompassing a large dose of humor and a wonderful storyline. 

I really think it was one of the best movies I have seen in years!

What a weekend.

Here is a glimpse into my wonderful weekend :)
(It is the last weekend I have before the kiddo's start school!)

Friday: caught up with some girl friends, and grabbed some food and drinks. We went to this place called "Brickhouse". (We had no idea what to expect, and were completely surprised/taken back when we saw half naked girls serving our food.) ...it's like a Hooter's, but with even less clothing :/ Don't get me wrong, their food was good, but keeping a conversation was quite difficult when girls walked by in uniforms that most definitely did not flatter their body. Overall, it was nice sitting outside and catching up! :)

Saturday: Wedding time! I love weddings. Who doesn't?! The bride was of course gorgeous and the venue was an old, beautiful building. I spent my night dancing away to some good old songs such as, "Bye Bye Bye", some Backstreet Boys hits" "Dirt Road Anthem", "I'm on a Boat", and more fun crazy random songs! After a great night, we hit the old market area and continued the night :)

There are always people playing outside the little shops/restaurants in the evening.
Even if you don't have money to spend, you can walk around for hours site seeing and enjoying the views, shops, music, and more!)
...Just don't wear your heels as the whole Old Market streets are made of brick!
Trust me, the brick streets and heels do NOT go well together...especially after a drink or two ;)

In the Old Market, there are many more places underground...
so, for every place you see on the streets, there is a different one underground as well!

Sunday: Catching up with ALL my sisters! The craziness of recruitment starts on Monday, and the alumni get together to help the chapter prepare and work on some things! I have been an alum for TWO years now. I can't believe it. I miss the first four years of college, they were the best days of life.

I don't know how I am keeping up with all this excitement in my life. It's like everything is going great and I couldn't be happier. It is the best weekend to send me off to officially start my student teaching tomorrow with the kiddos! I was told by my cooperating teacher that I will be extremely exhausted after tomorrow. As she stated "you don't know what tired is until you have completed a FULL first day of school with first graders". Bring it on!

P.S. This Saturday will mark the SEVEN year anniversary
of me and my man. I can't believe it!
I will tell The Story of Us then, so stay tuned :)
