EMBRACE your beauty

...especially your inner beauty

I'm not going to lie. I have (and currently still do) find it rather difficult at times to remain confident and see the true beauty in myself. It is something that I believe the majority of women face, whether they choose to admit it or not. Whether it's a minor flaw that's got you down or something that has always put a damper on that beautiful smile. Something so minuscule and absent to some of us, may present as the biggest flaw to others.

Regardless, we are typically our biggest critic.  It is that little voice inside our head constantly whispering little nuisances...
"If I could just loose that extra 5-10lbs" or "if only my teeth were more straight and white".

All of these imperfections are actually what make us special.
They make us unique :)
IMperfect = I'M PERFECT

Never forget that you are special.
All of your individual characteristics are what make you shine.
Don't be a copy, don't hide in others shadows...
stand out. be proud. be confident.
be YOU.

Oh Mylanta...

What is happening to all the television programs now-a-days.
Don't get my wrong, I still love my guilty pleasure of reality shows, but I am starting to notice that some of them are getting a little "too extreme".

I'm sure you have heard of "Toddlers and Tiaras" on The Learning Channel
(the learning channel...really?)
This is what we want our children/everyone to "learn" about...

 I assumed things like:
  • hair pieces
  • flippers (fake "perfect" teeth)
  • extreme makeup
  • thousand dollar dresses
  • fake tans
were bad enough. All of this is just a facade. It is simply unattainable and unrealistic. Unfortunately, it is things like this lead children to believe their bodies have to be perfect (when in fact, it will never naturally look that way) NOR should it!

They begin to forget what's really important.
Beauty is only skin deep, and true beauty lies within.

BUT, let me introduce you to a NEW show.
"Dance Moms"
Okay - it's on the Lifetime network, you would probably assume that it would be decent, right?

Well, let me just inform you of the latest episode that premiered this evening at 9:00pm central time:
Title: "Wildly Inappropriate"
Description: "Revealing dance costumes cause a scandal."

The moms made comments such as "they look like prostiTOTS" and they went back and forth debating appropriate terminology of the words scandalous, revealing, & skimpy ...Oh lordy.

These kids are being told repeatedly that they need to be perfect and anything less than first is simply unacceptable. To go even further...one parents claimed that she puts dance over school {gasp!}

It seems with this show, the parents may also be described as more intense than the moms of Toddlers and Tiaras! To see the video interview from ABCnews titled: "Dance Mom's' Lifetime show: Kids' Provocative Moves: Pushing" click here

While these girls are amazing dancers, it just saddens me to see this...
What are your thoughts? Too much or no...
