I am famous :)

Okay, so I'm not really famous.

But still.

Lately, my family has been really into our genealogy and my Grandma just happens to mention that she has information about her parents tucked away somewhere (you're just telling us know Gram!)

After I initiated the information about my Grandpa's adoption, she immediately got the urge to learn more about our history and started rummaging through her things to try and find the records she had. As hours went by, she finally found her parents family tree that dates back to 1751!

We found some pretty cool stuff! Check out this excerpt...
My family was on the Ways & Means Committee during the Revolutionary Way

We knew Mrs. Abraham Lincoln!

They sold their land and slaves to President George Washington!
*This land is/was the present site of Mount Vernon

(Mt. Vernon was the home and estate of George Washington)
it is now an educational tourist attraction, open seven days a week!
I can't believe how much information I can acquire through ancestry.com and even just by simple things like Google searches. While I am learning so much more information via my own researching and through the internet,  I only know for a fact that this paper is accurate.

I won't post anymore about genealogy, but I thought this was pretty cool & just had to share!
Plus, I'm showing some history :)

Ah! That IS exciting. I've been there - wish I had known that when I was there so I could be all like 'I know the descendant of the former owner' because seriously - that is SO cool.

That's so neat!! My grandmother's always told me stories about how her great greats came from here and went here. A few years ago one of her brothers got a geneology report that goes back to the time our family lived in England :) So, now you've got me interested in my Dad's side :)

That is super cool! You always see those commercials for ancestry.com but I never actually thought you would find much. My grandfather was always really into finding more about our family tree, I wish I learned more from him before he passed on. Side note - you HAVE to see Bridesmaids! Like HAVE to! So so so so soooo funny and you must come back and tell me all about it. I seriously was laughing so hard in the theatre that people in front of me were turned around to see the lunatic that was laughing so loud haha! (yes, that was me) Eeep! So excited. x

Wow how awesome that you have American history running through your blood! That's awesome!

I'm fascinated by geneology. I know my mom's Swedish ancestry dating back to the 1400s (nothing to exciting, family was sheep farmers, haha) and I know a little about my dad's family in India dating to 1800s (mostly docs and lawyers, many of whom went to Oxford U in England!). I would love to learn more, but the Indian side is just SO DIFFICULT! My goal is to visit the country so I can do some more in-depth research. :)

I bet your family has a ton of really cool/interesting stories! I wonder if there are newspaper articles dating back in the past 200 years you could look up and find out stuff about your ancestors...? You never know what you could find!! Gah, I'm getting excited just thinking about it! Sorry, I'm a dork. ;)
